Today I realised that my calendar wasn’t synching between my android phone and my Outlook 2010 at work using Google Calendar Sync. I went into the Quick Launch area and clicked sync on Google Calendar Sync and got this error “Please connect to the internet to use Google Calendar Sync”. After a few minutes of poking around I discovered that Google uses a COM Add-in object in Outlook 2010 in order to sync the data. In Outlook this COM Add-In was disabled. I turned it on and suddenly Google Calendar Sync started synching. To resolve this issue yourself, please follow the instructions below:
- Open Outlook 2010 and Click on file on the top right hand side of the screen.
- Click on Options.
- On the Options menu click on “Add-Ins”.
- On the Add-Ins screen on the Manage dropdown select “COM Add-Ins” and press “Go”.
- On the COM-Add-Ins menu, select Google Calendar Sync and press ok.
Right click on the Google Calendar Sync Quick Launch icon and press “Sync” to manually initiate the syncing process. Then you’re done.
